Why is aftercare important?
You’ve enjoyed your gorgeous, holistic treatment, you look and feel amazing - but your journey doesn’t stop there. Your body will be responding to your treatment in various ways for a period of time after you leave me, which is why it is important to look after for yourself following your treatment with the Aftercare Advice below, this will ensure that you gain maximum benefit from your Reflexology, Massage, Facial or Reiki appointment.
Reflexology
You can expect to feel amazing and very relaxed after your bespoke reflexology treatment. Occasionally, clients might notice that they feel a little tired, need to go to the toilet more frequently than usual and even that their symptoms worsen for a short period. These are all positive signs that your body is responding to the treatment, and they should pass within 24-48 hours. Support yourself by drinking plenty of water to flush toxins from the body, rest as much as you can, avoid caffeine & alcohol and eat light & healthy meals.
MASSAGE
After your Massage treatment you should expect to be feeling a relief from stress & from muscle tension, an improved mood, better sleep and a general sense of well-being. At the same time, massage can move toxins around the body, so you should support yourself in the 24-28 hours following your treatment by taking life more gently than usual - do not attempt any overly strenuous activity as your joints can be more flexible than usual, drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and also avoid caffeine & alcohol. Eat light & healthy meals that are easy to digest and assist the detoxification process. Rest as much as you can.
If you have received an Aromatherapy Massage, try to allow the oils to sit on your skin for as long as possible so that the benefits of your chosen Essential Oil blend are allowed to have their maximum effect. Do not sunbathe during this time, some essential oils are photo-toxic and can cause the skin to burn.
FACIAL TREATMENTS
Your skin should be looking radiant and feeling super-smooth & soft after your facial. Due to the 90 mins (or more!) of intense care and attention that has just been given to your skin however, it might be feeling a little more sensitive than usual so please treat your post-facial skin with even more gentle TLC than you ordinarily would. Avoid applying heavy makeup to your face after a treatment, your pores will be more open than usual and more susceptible to bacteria - by the same token, it’s a good idea to wash all your makeup brushes before applying makeup again the day after a facial too. Avoid exercising after a facial, the additional heat and sweat can irritate freshly exfoliated skin. Don’t exfoliate for 72 hours post facial, allow the skin time to rest. REIKI & SOUND HEALING
After your Reiki treatment, you are likely to feel deeply relaxed as reiki is used to stimulate natural re-balancing. Enjoy this time of well-being - rest and relax. Listen to your body and if you do feel more tired than usual, rest and sleep when you need to. To gain maximum benefit from your reiki treatment, it is advisable to drink plenty of water and avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours afterwards.
